Just a small little update. My US copy of Dragon Force arrived today, so updated the compatibility list to include it with screens from the US version.

I have a Japanese copy on it's way shortly, however as both the PAL and US versions ran identically I can already assume I'll find the same results with the JAP version.

Of no surprise, the Japanese version also ran identically.
So at this point 0.8.6 runs Dragon Force fairly well, FMV is a little on the slow n' stuttery side which unfortunately means you may have to press start a few times to skip it.

Music emulation is a bit off as I had already mentioned, but I had a quick play around with the sound test and the sound effects sounded great.
Aside from this the only major drawback now of course is the sprite rotation issue that has battle-fields displayed flat n' 2D on screen and the continent of Legendra being submerged underwater on the map.

Something I found kinda interesting personally is that save games are universal for Dragon Force.

In closing, Yabause 0.8.6 + Dragon Force = Great progress and congratulations are in order for the coders of Yabause.

You'll probably like the next version of Yabause then. Take a look:

No sound fixes yet, but I've been working hard on implementing the rotation screens(at least in the opengl renderer, software renderer shouldn't be hard to do).

I'm so excited about Yabause 0.8.7 now!
I can't wait, since that is the biggest glitch now ironed out.
Absolutely incredible work. I'll have to pop in another donation when it is released for yet another huge leap in the game's compatibility.

Thanks CyberWarriorX, you rock!

WOW

That looks great! Do you guys have an estimate for when that next update comes out? I want to play a graphically-working Dragon Force so bad ; ;

Oh and Cobra, I found that when I set my video core to the software renderer in the 0.8.6 preferences it replaced the underwater background world map with a black background; its not much better, but the paths between castles are visible. The battle background is also solid black.

Yeah, that's why I leave it on OpenGL, because the water was meant to be there, it's just the land is meant to be over it as shown in the screen above... that and because software mode doesn't stretch when maximised.

0.9.0 rocks!
Was able to find the time to update all things Dragon Force over at
http://yabause.org/compatibility-list/?compat=D

With 0.9 the game has improve dramatically graphically now with only some minor transparencies being the only real visual issue remaining.

Sound as already mentioned underwent no change so no point in mentioning it, but it all fairness. The sound side of things is fine, just that the CyberSound synth is inaccurate.

So apart from this the only other issue is the very demanding Cinepak movie playback. This I'm sure will improve over time, and as mentioned in another thread the movies took a lot of Saturn horse power to play as fluently as they did so it only stands to reason they aren't at the same level yet.

So in other words,
Yabause 0.9 + Dragon Force
Run well enough to be fully enjoyable,
Something the Yabause coders can be exceptionally proud of, I would be :)

I already mentioned it in another thread, but basically the issue with movie playblack is the fact that it's pretty sensitive to correct timing, which we've had problems with. Eventually it'll be fixed, but right now it's not a huge priority.

I real issue with movie clips, not just in emulation either.
Final Fantasy VII for PC on some newer computers would freeze after certain cut scenes because of a timing issue. So in comparison to that we are pretty lucky (^_^)
